We were pleased for having actively participated and proudly sponsored the 1st INVEST in GREECE Conference hosted by Nomiki BiBliothiki. Michailopoulos & Associates’ Managing Partner, Gregorios Michailopoulos, contributed to insightful discussions on the challenges of Private Investments & Privatizations, Concessions and Assets Development Contracts in Greece, among renowned participants, Manos Mastromanolis, former Secretary General of Tax Policy & Public Property, Kyriakos Savvidis, Head of Government Affairs & Corporate Development at Hellenic Republic Asset Development Fund, and Georgia Petropoulou, Legal Director.
Gregorios Michailopoulos elaborated on the aspects related to the legal framework of PPP’s (Law 3469/2005), Concession Contracts (Law 4413/2016) and Assets Development Contracts (PD 715/1979). He proceeded to a comparative analysis of the critical points of the abovementioned frameworks. He underlined from a practical point view the pros and cons of each option, which might appear to have similar characteristics, but differ in their scope, nature, and the degree of collaboration. He concluded that the choice of the most appropriate legal alternative depends on the specific goals of the awarding authority and its managerial competence, the nature of the project and the desired level of private sector involvement.
