He is an immensely experienced legal professional with a deep commitment to matters related to immigration, asylum, and refugee rights. Throughout his career, he has held several key roles that highlight his expertise and dedication to ensuring fair and just processes for refugees and asylum seekers.
As a Representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in the Asylum Committees under Presidential Decree 114/2010, Evangelos played a pivotal role in harmonizing national asylum procedures with international standards. His work within the Asylum Committees involved drafting decisions and facilitating the efficient adjudication of long- standing asylum cases, contributing significantly to the protection of refugees’ rights.
As a Special Advisor to the General Secretary for Transparency and Human Rights, Evangelos was involved in crafting a reform agenda aimed at enhancing human rights protection and bolstering judicial institutions. His contributions extended to participation in legislative committees and working groups, including his role in the development of laws such as the Equal Treatment Act and the establishment of the National Mechanism for Investigating Arbitrary Actions in law enforcement and detention facilities.
Evangelos contributed to the “Legal Handbook of Contracts” published by the Dashöfer Publishing House in 2006, and is often invited as speaker to legal seminars, conferences, sharing his knowledge and insights in the field of Public Procurement, PPPs, and State Aid Law.
