Biography

Dimitris Fakitsas is a distinguished expert in the field of co-financed programmes, currently serving as a scientific advisor providing technical assistance to MICHAILOULOS & ASSOCIATES.
With a long and successful career in the public sector, Dimitris has held several key leadership positions. Most notably, he served as the Director of the Special Service for Institutional Support (EYTHY) at the Ministry of National Economy and Finance from 2012 to 2023.

During his tenure at EYTHY, he was responsible for the design, monitoring, and evaluation of the Management and Control Systems (MCS) for the National Strategic Reference Framework (NSRF). He played a vital role in supporting MCS structures in areas such as public procurement, compliance with national and European regulatory frameworks, and ensuring the effective management of co-financed projects.

He was instrumental in overseeing and coordinating the drafting of both primary and secondary legislation governing the management, control, and implementation of development interventions for the 2014–2020 and 2021–2027 NSRF programming periods.

Dimitris also held senior roles in the Special Services of the European Social Fund (ESF), the Ministry of Rural Development and Food, and the Special Services of the National Coordination Authority, where he amassed significant expertise in managing complex development initiatives.
